The Results

Mr. GoodMail catches 100% of all known viruses, keeping your computer safe. Results for spam vary by mailbox, but a 98% reduction in spam is typical. Many companies offer services with the results listed above, but most of them end up filtering out a lot of email you do want (called a false positive). Mr. GoodMail is different. This system has a false positive rate of 1 in 1 million emails. That means for every million emails processed through Mr. GoodMail, only one might be incorrectly marked as spam. Mr. GoodMail likes being different - sometimes different is good!

How it Works

Mr. GoodMail is a separate mail server that receives and scans mail before sending it on to our primary mail server. The first step is to check the headers of each incoming email message and compare them against published lists of known spammers. These lists are called Real-time Block Lists (RBLs). If an incoming email is sent from an IP address listed on one of the RBLs that we check, the email is sent to quarantine immediately. This eliminates much of the incoming spam and cuts down on server loads.

Once an email passes the RBL scan, it is scanned for known viruses. Any email containing a virus is deleted immediately and the intended recipient receives an email from Mr. GoodMail informing them of the infected message.

Any email making it through the above steps moves on to a system backed up by real humans who are on duty 24/7/365. They are constantly monitoring incoming email from thousands of servers looking for new spam trends and viruses and putting updates onto a central server as they are ready. Mr. GoodMail checks this central server every minute for updates! That means that he is always on the lookout for the latest spam or virus.

Email not marked as spam in the last step of the process is sent on to your mailbox. Email that is marked as spam is held in a quarantine for ten days. Each day, you will receive an email digest from Mr. GoodMail listing the sender, subject, and timestamp of your quarantined mail. This digest will include links to view the email, release the email (have it sent to your mailbox), or release and report (send it to your inbox and report it to Mr. GoodMail staff as not spam). Each digest will list email added to the quarantine after the last digest was sent.

By default, we will scan all addresses in your domain unless you specifically exclude some. Clients with a GoodMail Control Panel can make adjustments at any time. Clients without this control panel will need to email a request to Wrightsites.com and there will be a $5.00 charge for each instance of changes (regardless of the number of addresses being modified). Requests for turning off filtering entirely for a domain will not be charged.
